Last time I stayed here was 1 night in January of this past year at the time this is what was wrong;
Elvevator STILL did not work. - It's been broken for the past 2 years.
Mold - Bathrooms were still moldy - to the point that I would not take a shower there.
Corridors - More than half the lights in the walksways were out. the corridor are on the oustide of the building and more then half the windows are missing.
Ice machines - Only one that worked was on the top floor.(Remember the elevator is still broken)

It's not even worth the $* that they now charge, it used to be $*. But the cost and the central location have to be the only reasons for a good reveiw. Either that or these people are used to staying in rat traps.
I will jsut pay the $* extra and go the Avalon on 10th street when I'm home next month.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This hotel is horrible. As soon as I walked into my room I saw a wad of shewed-up blue bubble gum stuck to the wall, and the bathroom shower was not only covered in mold and mildew, but had several hairs left behind from the previous guest. The room smelled bad, was loud at night, and didn't feel even remotely safe. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.

I booked this hotel because of reviews that I am now positive were posted by the owners and pictures which flat out lie. The entire hotel was a dump, the room was not clean and there was dirt in the shower that was not cleaned either day I was there. The very name "Downtown Erie Hotel" is kind of misleading in that it may be a short walk to the downtown area but the hotel itself is in a very run down and partially abandoned part of town. DO NOT let the pictures fool you, the lobby is in awful shape compared to the pictures on their website, the elevator barley worked, and our room was pretty dirty.

Perfect downtown location...

I was there with my family for a Family reunion. The location is very convinient to all attractions and restaurants. The rooms were clean and neat. The staff was very friendly and provided good service. For the price and service, I would stay here again and recomond others to stay, too.

In town for a friend's wedding and stayed at this hotel. It was unfortunately not a pleasant experience. If it was $50 a night, I would stay here, but not for $109. Service was poor, and this was experienced by multiple guests, not just me. Nothing was done with complaints about noise. Save your $$$ and stay somewhere else!

This was my first time stay at this motel and was quit better than I expected for an independent motel. I had stayed at other franchised hotels in the area but this offers more for the price. The staff was friendlier and the property was much better than other franchised hotels in the area. I wish the restaurant and bar was open. I would stay here again specially in summer to enjoy a very large swimming pool they have. The motel is in downtown area close to many restaurants and the lake.

I used to stay here regularly years ago, last time was about six years ago. I can't believe how far this place has sunk in that time. The bathroom was pretty gross with black mold all around the tub. The shower head was almost totally plugged up with crud. The water was warm at best and quite turbid. The resturant was closed, this was probably fortunate. Worst of all in my mind the fire alarm went off about 6 am. We evacuated of course and when the fire department arrived I went to the lobby to see what was going on. The place was smokey but neither of the staff could actually speak english well enough to explain to the firemen so the firemen could not really figure out what was going on. I don't know if the staff really could not speak english or were just afraid of getting in trouble. The firemen concluded the staff had caused the problem by trying to cook something, burning it, then trying to shut off the fire alarm. After poking around some the fire department guys left and I turned in my key on the spot and was handed a bill. The bill was incorrect but I could not make the clerk understand what I was saying. He kept pointing to the bill saying something like " it on bill you pay" I will sleep in my car before I stay here again.

Much better than I thought

This is an Independent Motel but is much better than I thought. The Property is old but is clean and neat. Room was picture perfect. The service was good. I and my kids had lot of fun in the Swiming pool.

I went with my family including 3 kids. The staff was very friendly. The property is clean and room was veru clean and neat. My kids loved the free breakfast. It is an independent hotel but is much better than other franchise hotels I have stayed in this area. Would definately stay there again.

bad location, people walking around parking lot in wee hours of the morning our car alarm went off 3 times, maid service sucks, overall the worst hotel i have ever stayed in management does not listen to your complaints

This hotel is hidious! It is actually a motel with a homemade partition to make it look like your room has indoor entrances. My key did not work most of the time. EMS sirens were going off all night long. Toilets had no pressure. Maid service was lazy. So called management didn't listen to your complaints. I smelled more weed smoke there then at a Cheech and Chong party.I will stay in a tent before i stay there again.
