Lower than a Motel 6
PostedApril 25, 2010
When my wife looked at the place she started to tear up, it was so bad.
Clean, but very old, small rooms. I have seen Motel 6 & Days In with better rooms.
Then there is the view, or lack of it.
One would think that with its name, and location on the map that one could see the water. Well all you see is the back of the Best Western hotel 25 feet away when you look out your window.
And to get to the water you must walk through the Best Western grounds.
My wife would not stay there, and I agree with her. They nicely did refund our money.

Inexpensive, clean, and comfortable, with outstanding hosts!
PostedApril 11, 2010
We discovered the Sands on a recent three-night stay to the central coast and, on a whim, decided to take a look. Boy were we surprised! The owners went out of their way in making us comfortable and, after the overall shock of finding such a nice room at an unbeatable price yet with all the amenities, we proceeded to just relax and tour the area knowing we were in good hands with our lodging accomodations. Oh yes, we'll be back. I can't wait!

Good Place for the Price
PostedSeptember 19, 2008
The hotel was a nice place to relax and rest. It is your basic room with more amenities than most with a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. The people were very nice and let us check in an hour early and when I left my Majorca Pearl earrings behind, the clerk at the front desk was so helpful. I called to see if they were found and nothing was turned in but she said she would call if they turned up. She called the next day and I was very grateful. We ate at the Mexican place within walking distance and the walk to the beach is close and relaxing. We were going to the Hearst Castle evening tour and the hotel is literally 3 minutes away. We would stay again. Thanks.

Nice people

The location was very convenient for all of the local attractions and the owners could not have been nicer. Breakfast was decent and complimentary. The pool was really nice and as warm as a spa.The bed was hard and the towels were scimpy and there were no towel racks.

Great Value for the Money
PostedMarch 5, 2008
Me and my husband went down to see our son at Cal Poly for the weekend. We have always loved San Simeon. It is a close 35-40 minute drive from the Campus. The staff at the hotel is very friendly. The rooms are clean. There is a refridgerator, microwave, coffee pot, shampoo and conditioner that is provided. Parking is right outside your room. The beach is walking distance, there are small shops right next door and a wonderful Mexican restuarant next to that. I completely forgot about the indoor heated pool so don't forget your suits. They also offer a nice complimentary continental breakfast. Overall great value for the money. It is not on the Ocean but close enough to walk to. The front faces HWY 1. Very easy to find.
