Bad neighborhood and poorly maintained

This Days Inn was unlike others we'd seen. It was in a seedy part of Missoula, and the front desk had to chase away a couple of "working girls" from out front. Our room was next to the janitor's closet and we heard gurgling noises constantly.
Our coffeemaker was broken, and the air conditioning came from a big ugly, dirty vent near the ceiling. It seemed very poorly maintained and not terribly clean.

When checking in the lady at the front desk had an excellent sense of humor and was very friendly, as were the manager and other hotel staff I met. The only real problem I had was that my room smelled like animal bedding. It seemed clean and I couldn't find anything that the smell would be coming from, but it was very pervasive.

Very reasonable price. Central part of the City. Not close to resturants.

Arrived in the room and the smell immediately hit us. Where to begin?? The room had not been vacuumed - there were straws and reminants of popcorn beside the bed. We pulled the cover back from the 2 beds, and one set of sheets had hair in them, the other had stains on the sheets. Obviously had never been washed. We left the hotel and never returned. Typically have always had very good rooms at all Days Inn, this was unfortunate.
